Sibling Name Finder: Baby Names That Match Your Child's Name

Find a name for your new baby that sounds great next to their big brother or sister.

What is a sibling name finder? It suggests names from our library of 1,500+ real names that share a style, origin and rhythm with your older child's name, while avoiding rhymes and look-alike initials so each child's name stands on its own.

Not sure? Work out your due date.

How the sibling name finder works

    • Same origin: names from the same culture as your child's name rank higher.
    • Rhythm and length: similar syllable count and length sound balanced together.
    • Style: names with similar popularity feel like a set.
    • No clashes: we skip rhymes, identical endings and (by default) matching initials.

Frequently asked questions about sibling names

How do I choose a sibling name that goes well with my first child's name?

Look for names with a similar style, origin and rhythm, but a different first letter and ending sound so the names don't blur together when you call them.

Should siblings have names starting with the same letter?

It's a personal choice. Matching initials can feel charming but may cause mix-ups with post and school forms. This tool avoids matching initials by default; tick the box to allow them.

Why does the tool avoid rhyming names?

Names that rhyme or share the same ending (like Mira and Kira) are easy to confuse, especially when calling across a playground.

What if my child's name is not in your library?

You'll still get suggestions based on its length and rhythm. Same-origin and popularity matching only work for names in our library.

Where does the popularity meter come from?

From US Social Security birth records (2008–2017), showing each name's best rank in those years. It does not reflect other countries.
