    Medical Review Council

How health, safety, sleep, feeding and development content on ParentingTipsAndGuide is checked before it reaches you — and who checks it.

    How we review

    Checked Against Official Guidance

Health, sleep, feeding and development guidance is checked against current AAP, IAP, WHO, CDC and NHS guidance. A page reviewed by a named clinician says so, with the reviewer's name and the review date.

    Evidence-First Sourcing

Citations come from primary sources: peer-reviewed journals, AAP, CDC, WHO, NIH, and reputable academic institutions. We avoid news-of-the-day and anecdotal claims for medical topics.

    Plain-Language Translation

Reviewers help us translate complex research into clear, non-alarming guidance — without losing nuance. We label uncertainty explicitly and never present opinion as fact.

    Calm, Non-Judgmental Tone

Our reviewers ensure content is warm, inclusive across feeding/sleeping/parenting choices, and never shames parents. Safety guidance is firm; lifestyle guidance is supportive.

    Periodic Re-Review

Health and safety articles are scheduled for re-review at least every 12 months, or sooner when guidelines change (e.g. AAP safe-sleep updates).

    Editorial Independence

Our editorial decisions are independent of advertisers, sponsors and affiliate partners.

    Our reviewers

Independent clinicians and specialists who review our content, each with a public profile you can check.

Important: this is not medical advice

Even with rigorous review, articles on this site are general parenting education — not a substitute for personalized advice from your child's pediatrician, midwife, or therapist. If you have a specific concern about your child's health, development, or safety, please contact a qualified clinician directly. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
