    Quick answer

A name's numerology number is found by giving each letter a value, adding them up and reducing the total to a single digit. The Chaldean system (used by most Indian numerologists) values letters 1–8; the Pythagorean system values A–I as 1–9 and repeats.

    How the numbers are calculated

    Chaldean values: A, I, J, Q, Y = 1; B, K, R = 2; C, G, L, S = 3; D, M, T = 4; E, H, N, X = 5; U, V, W = 6; O, Z = 7; F, P = 8. Add the values of every letter and keep adding the digits until one digit remains.

Pythagorean values run A=1 to I=9, J=1 to R=9 and S=1 to Z=8. Numerology is a cultural tradition rather than science, so enjoy it alongside a name's meaning and origin.

    Frequently asked questions

Which numerology system is used in India?

Most Indian name-numerology guides use the Chaldean system.

    Should I include the surname?

Some numerologists use the full name, others only the first name. This calculator works with whatever you enter.

    Is name numerology scientific?

No — it's a cultural tradition. Many families enjoy it, but a name's meaning and how it sounds matter more.

Why do the two systems give different numbers?

They assign different values to the letters — Chaldean uses 1–8 based on sound, Pythagorean uses 1–9 in alphabet order — so the totals usually differ.
